The Bowtie is a Level 2 Monster in R.E.P.O. and It attacks by creating very strong winds that blow things away.

Appearance[]

The Bowtie is a Large, White, Puffy, Armless creature which resembles a cloud and wears a red Bowtie.

The Bowtie's head is tall and flops to its right side. Its eyes are red, and it has a mouth with crooked, yellow teeth.

It has a big, circular body and wears a big red bowtie (The inspiration for its name). The Bowtie has no arms, but it does does have two large, trunk-like legs that make a unique stomping sound.

The Bowtie will change its appearance majorly in its attack animation, it will morph into a shorter and wider version of itself. Its face will move to its torso, Its mouth also becomes huge and covers most of said torso, with its teeth being much larger and visible. Its eyes are much more spaced apart, and the bowtie that it wears will move further down and start spinning.

Concept art for the Bowtie (Also used as a painting in the Museum) depicts it having more of a square-shaped body, two tiny arms with three fingers, eyes that are closer together, and two pairs of toes with larger feet, its bowtie is also seemingly missing.

Behavior[]

It will roam around aimlessly, but once the Bowtie Spots a semibot, it will instantly turn to face them, and then start its attack after a very short delay. During its attack, it will Morph into a giant fan, blowing wind at the targeted semibot For about 5 seconds. This concentrated current of air will push away and damage mostly everything: semibots, valuables, monsters, all that stuff.

It will especially be dangerous to the semibots, as they can be pushed back at an insanely fast speed, and will take damage everytime they hit a surface, the Bowtie will also slowly turn to the target if they move out of its attack. It can also blow away and damage any valuables in its blast, especially smaller valuables.

After the Bowtie's attack finishes, it will either go back to roaming, or it will leave. When the bowtie is leaving, it will start running, making it go much faster. The bowtie will deal 5 damage to any semibot in its way while running. Once it reaches to the area it wanted to go to, the bowtie will stop running and return to roaming.

Tips[]

  • Bowties are immobile while blowing wind, making them easy targets for a player not caught in the gust.
  • Bowties have quite a distinct stomping sound while moving, which can help you detect them before they get too close.
  • Getting blown by a Bowtie is one of the fastest ways a player can move while still being relatively controllable; if the player doesn't mind taking a bit of damage and is desperate to move quickly.
  • If a Bowtie takes damage from a player while attacking and survives it, it will end its attack early.
  • When the bowtie enters its leave state, nothing short of a stun attack will stop it. This means that other monsters in its path may also be bowled over and stunned, taking heavy physics damage if trapped in the way of the bowtie.
  • The bowtie is highly dangerous around the C.A.R.T. due to its ability to launch most of its contents away, possibly even into pits. Limit proximity to the C.A.R.T. if you know a bowtie is near.
  • Never attempt to bait a bowtie into a mine by trying to make it spot you. It will just blow the mine straight into your face where it then explodes.
    • If you wish to use a mine against a bowtie, place it in a doorway where it can't get around it, then make a lot of noise in the adjacent room, such as running or jumping around for a few seconds, or provoking a valuable that makes noise. Hide after you've made enough noise, and when the bowtie comes to investigate, it will trip the mine by itself, as long as it doesn't spot anyone first.
  • The bowtie is one of the most dangerous monsters in any room with pits. It is strongly discouraged to engage one in or near to any rooms with pits.
