The Gnome is a level 1 Monster. It resembles a miniature animate garden gnome with a distorted face.

Behavior[]

The Gnomes always spawn in groups of four unless replacing a level 3 Monster. When roaming, they will stop at random spots while remaining grouped with the other Gnomes in the level. When a Gnome detects a valid Valuable or a player nearby, it will alert other Gnomes nearby and attempt to attack said valuable/player by swinging a pickaxe at it. Gnomes prioritise Valuables over players.

Gnomes can jump, and so can enter the cart, which can easily cause a lot of items getting damaged from one swing. They can also jump onto tables or similar objects if there is a player on top, and jump when a player jumps if trying to attack.

When thrown Gnomes deal 0/3/6/10 damage to enemies and 0 damage to players. On impact they stun players, but they don't stun enemies.

Tips[]

  • They can be picked up with no strength, making them easy to kill by simply smashing them against something or throwing in the air. You can alternatively pick one up as a weapon to smash against or drop on his fellow Gnome folk, killing both on impact.
  • If the valuable they want to damage is being held above a pit they will jump into said pit.
  • If swarmed by a lot of gnomes, repeatedly jumping will make it much more difficult for them to land hits.
  • When they are lurking they can easily find you on the ground level, so try to hide higher up, in a chest, a cabinet, or a closable hiding place.
  • Because monsters have a one-second respawn timer after the last extraction is completed, Gnomes may respawn in overwhelming numbers in later levels. It is better to just try and run from them rather than fight, as more often than not you'll be fighting a losing battle, or at least one where you may get seriously injured as a result.
  • There is a small chance that a level 3 monster that would have spawned will be replaced by 10 gnomes.
  • Because they prioritise attacking valuables over semibots, if one can pinpoint the valuable they are attempting to attack and then pick it up and hold it in midair, the gnomes will circle underneath the valuable, occasionally trying to jump and swipe at it. If you have another semibot nearby, you can keep the valuable suspended in midair to pacify them while the other semibot grabs and chucks them away one by one, minimising damage to valuables and semibots alike.
