The Shadow Child is a level 1 Monster which resembles a tall, slender humanoid with the face of a small child.
Behavior[]
The Shadow Child will teleport near players, either behind doors or somewhere close by, often accompanied by quiet laughter. When a player looks at it, six white arms will slowly emerge from its body, and the screen of the player will become darker.
If the player watches it for ~5 seconds, it will pull their view towards its face and throw the player towards itself (with a voice saying "yoink"), dealing 30 damage and afterwards despawning. The timer of 5 seconds doesn't reset when the player looks away from the Shadow Child.
The Shadow Child takes 10 physics damage instead of the usual 25.
If left alone for around 10 seconds, it will teleport elsewhere.
Tips[]
- The player can look at one without consequence by keeping it at the edge of their screen.
- The Shadow Child can be briefly stunned by any size of valuable, but are difficult to kill as they can teleport away. Stunning them can still be useful to make them leave for a while.
- If you need to get rid of it quickly, a good tactic would be to Tumble Launch into it. This will stun it for 2 seconds, after which it will instantly disappear. But be careful, as you will have to sacrifice 5 health.
- Due to it teleporting away when attacked, it can be difficult to kill the Shadow Child by slamming it into the walls or dropping it down a pit. It is better not to bother attacking it unless necessary or with a strong weapon.
- As long as you don't look in the Shadow Child's direction, it is docile to you. You can even walk directly past it or stand next to it without consequence if you're not looking towards it.
