The Spewer is a level 1 Monster.
Appearance[]
It resembles a small light-brown floating creature with tentacles.
Behavior[]
The Spewer chaotically floats around the map until it spots a player. When it does, it will start vomiting and moving towards the player in order to attempt to attach to their face. When a Spewer latches on a player it stuns them for a brief moment and will remain on the player for anywhere between 10 to 60 seconds. If it is unable to latch on for a period of time, it will instead projectile vomit and deal 10 damage to players while knocking them down. When it leaves the player, they will be knocked down briefly and the Spewer will immediately attempt to flee as quickly and directly as possible, though if chased it will begin to target the player again.
While a Spewer is latched on, the player’s voice becomes deeper, and they will occasionally projectile vomit, dealing 10 damage to anything it hits including Valuables. If defensive (such as when grabbed by a player), Spewers will occasionally projectile vomit towards them. After latching off the player, the Spewer will be on cooldown and if they spot another player, instead of trying to latch on they will vomit instead.
The Spewer cannot detach if the player is under a hiding spot, but its timer will still count down; once the timer runs out, the Spewer will stop vomiting, and detach immediately when the player leaves the hiding spot.
If a player damages Monsters with the vomit, they won't become alerted or aggravated towards the player. The only exception is the Huntsman who will hear the sound and shoot the player.
Tips[]
- Spewers, like most level 1 enemies, are more of a nuisance than an actually dangerous threat; if you simply let the Spewer latch on without making it vomit on you, it won't do any damage to you, with the main threat being to valuables that it may damage with its vomit.
- If you have a Spewer latched onto you, avoid picking up any valuables; the vomit will hit it and knock it out of your hands while damaging it significantly.
- If a Spewer is coming toward you, you can grab and constantly push it away, regardless of how much strength you have. 4 strength is only required to stun it,
- This can be used to kill a Spewer by putting it in a fireplace, cauldron, or other environmental hazard, but wont work for pits unless it can be pushed to the killbox at the very bottom.
- They lose track of their targets extremely fast, meaning it can be easily shoved behind a corner or some other obstacle that breaks line of sight. Due to its floaty and meandering movement, it can take several seconds for it to move past the obstacle, letting you run or hide.
- Without any range upgrades, grabbing an aggravated Spewer before it attaches to your face can be difficult.
- It can be made easier by holding down the grab button while keeping it on your crosshair as it comes closer. You will automatically grab it once it's in range, however it will break free after 2-3 seconds, and due to the short range it will almost immediately latch on. So make good use of that brief time to do something with it.
- Spewers can be stunned by any size of valuable, making them very easy to kill.
- If you have very low HP, the Spewer's projectile vomit can become dangerous; especially during the final extraction where you likely won't be holding valuables anyways, you can simply let it latch on to avoid potentially being damaged by it.
- An attached Spewer can be used as a makeshift weapon against some enemies which are slower and with easy-to-avoid attacks, like Chef or Clown, but its inconsistent vomit timings and somewhat low damage means it's not very reliable, not to mention it can detach at any time, which will stun the player and leave them defenseless.
- Avoid navigating narrow bridges while you have a Spewer attached if you can help it. If it chooses that exact time to detach, it will stun you and possibly make you inadvertently roll off the side of the bridge.
